Freefall On Your First Jump
WARNING:
Your first skydive here at Gan involves exiting a perfectly good airplane from at
least 9,000 feet above the earth and flying through the air for thousands of feet!
This kind of FUN & EXCITEMENT is not recommended for the timid!!
- Well to be honest - It May Be Just What You Need -
Tandem skydiving is today's best method of introducing newcomers to the sport of skydiving. It is easily available to anyone who'd like to try skydiving just once, or those who wish to pursue this exciting sport. It is a safe and easy way of experiencing FREEFALL on your very first jump, without the need of lengthy instruction. In fact, after completing just a 30 minute briefing with your Tandem Instructor, you'll get geared up and take a ride to high altitude in one of our several aircraft. After a few final safety checks, the door will open and you and your instructor will exit into a WIDE OPEN SKY!
What is it like? Contrary to what some people might think, it does not feel like you are falling whatsoever (i.e. bungie jump, roller coaster). In freefall, you will actually experience the sensation of flying in the sky, on a bed of air ...and all you'll need to do is simply enjoy the ride, since you'll be securely fastened to a fully qualified, experienced and certified Tandem Instructor, who's job is not only to provide you with a safe skydive, but to assist you in experiencing the ultimate thrill of flight!
You will freefall for approximately 30 seconds before your Tandem Instructor deploys the main parachute. For the next several minutes, you'll enjoy all the peace and serenity that birds do as you fly through the sky under a special 2 person tandem parachute, taking in the breathtaking view of the world below, slowly making your way back to the landing area for a soft return to earth. Afterwards, you will be presented with your certificate and you can then discuss the details on how you can do this again, and again ...and maybe even become a skydiver!
Don't want to miss anything? No problem. Skydive Gan offers a professional DVD video package that includes footage of your ground preparation, your ride in the plane, your actual freefall, your landing... and everything else in between! An experienced videographer will freefall with you and your instructor, wearing a video camera mounted on his helmet, catching every moment of your special experience. Mixed & edited together with great music and you'll take home with you the memory of a lifetime!
- Skydive Gan's Relative Workshop Certified Tandem Instructors are among the most skillful and experienced tandem instructors in Canada.
- Skydive Gan uses only the best parachuting gear in the industry and all of our tandem rigs are equipped with state of the art CYPRES Automatic Activation Devices (AADs).

*Important First Jump Information*
Reservations
First Jumps are available by appointment only, therefore, pre-registration is required along with a non-refundable deposit. For weekends, the amount of the deposit will be $50.00 (per person). For weekdays, the deposit required will be $100.00 (per person). Reservations will be accepted up to three days prior to the date of the proposed jump, providing that there are still slots available. Date changes to reservations have to be made within a 72 hour notice. No one is considered registered for a first jump until a deposit has been made.
Jump Day Registration
It is recommended that you arrive early to sign in prior to your scheduled pre-jump briefings and training sessions which must begin on time. Please DO NOT be late. We operate on a first signed in - first jump basis when more than one person is scheduled for a particular time.
Identification and age
A valid photo ID (driver's licence or Provincial/State ID) is required to sign up for a jump. You must also be 18 years of age. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Pre-Jump Briefings & Training Sessions
Once a group or individual has pre-registered and paid their "deposit"
The pre-jump briefing and training session will be conducted on the agreed upon date and time - regardless of the weather conditions. You must attend scheduled pre-jump briefings (rain or shine) to avoid forfeiture of any deposit. Please do not phone us regarding the weather on the day of your jump. We do not cancel jumps in advance because of weather forecasts. The weather in Gananoque can also be quite different than it is where you live.
Time Required
Although pre-jump briefings and training sessions do not take very long, please be prepared to spend a good part of the day at the Centre. Factors such as the weather, how busy we happen to be and the time of day that your jump is scheduled can play a part in the length of your stay. Ideally though, the entire process should take no more than half a day.
It has been proven that the more time one spends at the dropzone, the more stress can be relieved! Especially if you choose to stick around until after sunset, at which time everyone is invited to gather around the campfire and share the day's incredible experiences!
What to Wear?
Dress comfortably, keeping the temperature in mind. Remember we live in Canada, so in the cooler months a pair of gloves are a must. Folks may find loose fitting pants, as opposed to tight fitting Jeans, much more comfortable to jump in. Flexibility is important. Shorts are okay too. Gym shoes (sneakers or running shoes) are ideal, but hiking boots are fine as well, as long as they don't have speed laces or open clips on them. No Tevas, sandals, tongs, cowboy boots or work boots please. You may wear them during the day but bring a pair of gym shoes to wear on the jump.
Freefall Video Package
As previously explained (see top of page), a complete video package is available as an option (circumstances permitting), it is best to make arrangements when pre-registering. Your video will be put onto a DVD and packaged in a full sleeve DVD case so you can easily find it (that's important because you will want to show your friends and family over and over again. For more information click here. NOTE: The use of personal GoPro cameras is prohibited.
Refunds
If, for whatever reason, you cannot jump on the same day after going through the pre-jump briefing and training session, you will be issued a raincheck, good for one year. No-shows will forfeit their deposits.
